| It's truly amazing how many Leather and BDSM events have sprung up all over the world. In general, they fall into a couple of categories, one-day and multi-day events.
"Play parties" and "munches" fall into the first category, while conventions of various descriptions may last 3 or 4 days. Then, too, there are a few "camps" or "schools" where people gather to learn.

Play party: Where people in the BDSM scene go to meet and play.
Munch : Where people in the BDSM scene meet in a public space (usually a restaurant, hence the name munch). These events usually require non-fetish attire or street clothes.
Leather Social: A larger scale version of a munch where people in the BDSM scene can act and dress a little more freely.
SIG : Acronym for Special Interest Group. Many types are formed through larger BDSM organizations.
Orientation : A meeting where an organization has a chance to meet and introduce prospective members to existing members, gives information to new members and discusses their rules and regulations.
